Pvp Monk Builds?
I made a Monk for Pvp-Only and was wondering what builds most people ran for PVP.
The build im currently using could probably use alot of help, which would be appreciated.
[skill]Word Of Healing[/skill][skill]Reversal Of Fortune[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill][skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Return[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill]
Completely different build suggestions would be nice to see too.
I want a build to be good for TA and I have Proph/Factions atm. Thanks.

you cant remove conditions from yourself with this build, which doesn't seem to be a very good idea. I would swap mend for dismiss condition personally, and drop essence bond for something more useful like another small prot or second heal.

Essence Bond is bad, take Dark Escape instead. With only proph/factions, take Mend Ailment over Mend Condition.

Sounds good, thanks.
Also, with a build of this nature, what should be my target HP/Energy, Attribute setup?

For PvP, you want 600+ health as a minimum. When I'm not specced into heal, I have 640 health on my shield set and 580 on others.
Your energy is going to vary over each weapon set, but it should range between 25 (shield set) and 72 (high energy set).
For attributes, run 12+1+1 Prot, 11/12+1 Divine and 3/6 in Shadow.

HP at least 600, and you need a few weapon sets.
35 energy (shield + spear/sword/axe) defensive set spear/axe/sword with +5E
25 energy (shield + spear/sword/axe) low energy set spear/axe/sword with -5E
72 energy (focus +15/-1 + wand +15/-1) high energy set
42 energy (focus 20/20 + wand 20/20) normal set. for prot.
all runes on armour should be survivor.
Thats what i use anyway - but you need a shield defending against everything for +10 armour.
And with the attribute setup i use (WoH) 12(+1+1) heal, 10(+1) prot, 8(+1) divine.
For ZB, 12(+1+1) prot and 12(+1) divine.

Enchanting Prot staff instead of the 35e set.

Essence bond is bad. Santa Monica is a good place to live.

For arenas I run the following
Healing: 12 + 1 + 1
Prot: 9 + 1
Div: 9 + 1
Shadow Arts: Junk
[skill]Word Of Healing[/skill]
[skill]Spirit Bond[/skill]
[skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill] OR [skill]Shielding Hands[/skill]
[skill]Guardian[/skill]
[skill]Return[/skill]
[skill]Holy Veil[/skill]
[skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill]
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill]
I guess weapon sets have already been talked about. When running Word of Healing you definitely want to take maximum advantage of the 36% chance faster recharge and cast times - and enchanting prot staff is helpful when it comes to guardian and is also very nice if you get lucky and trigger a fast recharging veil.
Holy Veil is also an amazing tool in Arenas, always pre veil yourself and I would more often than not pre veil a warrior, ranger, derv or sin too before the match begins. If you happen to have played mesmer it sucks casting on a pre veiled monk, you're either going to have to use enchant removal, or cast a hex which you know won't stick for long at all and will take forever to cast. Same goes for being a necro and casting curses on a warrior. So yes, in conclusion pre casting veils is amazing and I'm only emphasising on this because not nearlly enough monks in RA do it.
Shielding Hands and Absorption really both have their own advantages.
Spirit Bond imho is vastly better than Prot Spirit in arenas, it is the only 10 energy skill on the bar but is very much worth it due to being massively efficient, it can mop up a lot of Derv, Ele, Hammer pressure
Return is my personal choice of defensive skill. I'm also a fan of Shield Bash - I guess Disciplined Stance and Dark Escape are also viable but require a bit more of a spec in the attribute, which isn't viable if you want to run WoH as opposed to ZB
ZB gives the advantage of being able to spec more in prot but with the exception of SoA the skills on the above bar don't really benefit enough from the higher prot to justify it's use imo because as a red-bar skill ZB is significantly inferior to WoH. Dismiss extra heal isn't that important when you have a Redbar skill like WoH anyway.
If you have only Prof/Factions anyway I guess you have less decisions to make skillwise anyway
and Essence Bond is bad

When I run RA/TA I tend to use my WoH template of:
Mo/A
Healing Prayers: 10+1+1
Protection Prayers: 12+1
Divine Favor: 8+1
Shadow Arts 2
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Word of Healing[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Return[/skill]
Weapon Sets:
(1) 40%/40% Healing Prayers Wand / Focus
(2) 20%/20%/20% Enchanting Protection Staff
(3) Main Hand (wand, spear, sword, axe, etc.) with Shield Offhand (-2/Enchanted)
(4) +27 Energy Set
------
As you stated you only have Prophecies and Factions, the only skill on my bar from NF is Dismiss, which you can replace for Mend Ailment.
[skill]Mend Ailment[/skill]
------
Weapon swapping is Key in PvP, when I monk I tend to set my (1) set to my SHIFT key, and my (2) set to my SPACEBAR, this way when I constantly switch for WoH (1) or for any of my protection skills (2) my fingers are already there to switch.
-----
I used to run SB because it was placed under all other enchantments, but post buff it's just not worth it imo, I tend to run PS for the time that it lasts, and for High DP'd allies
Hope that helped a bit (some was previously stated)

The low energy and defensive sets are redundant - replace one of them with the prot staff. I like to play with 35 in the defensive so I've got more energy to play with under pressure, and the low nrg set is only useful against hard edenial. Generally, before the match starts you can take a look at the other team and consider whether hiding nrg is going to be important or not and swap the weapon on your defensive set accordingly.
